Dyed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pagewoodfarm.com\/\">Pagewood Farm<\/a> in southern California, the Glacier Bay yarn has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it years ago. With a very tight twist and merino composition, it makes for sturdy socks. The generous yardage is great for slightly larger projects too. I&#8217;m surprised it&#8217;s not easier to find!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-578\" alt=\"Vamp 2\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Vamp-2-418x500.jpg\" width=\"418\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Vamp-2-418x500.jpg 418w, http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Vamp-2.jpg 836w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Worked in deep blood red colored yarn, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/vamp-3\">Vamp <\/a>socks feature diagonal twisted cable panels that join<br \/>\nin a V at the top of the foot. The V is both for Vampire and perhaps a vampire fang. The panels also form a diagonal frame with nested knit and purl diamonds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-577\" alt=\"Circe 1\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Circe-1-500x493.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Circe-1-500x493.jpg 500w, http:\/\/cookiea.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Circe-1.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/circe-2\">Circe<\/a> socks feature a swirling leaf pattern which is created from the biasing of the lace pattern.
